Friedrich Ludwig Schroder Masonic Commemorative Medal
A silver memorial of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the oldest Hamburg Masonic Lodge and of Schroder, who held various offices including Grand Master for a number of years.
Schroder was an important figure in the history of the German theater, introducing many modern concepts as both actor and director as well as Manager of the Hamburg Theater. It was he who first introduced the plays of Shakespeare to German audiences.
The medal is in extremely fine state, particularly well toned on the obverse. The artist is unidentified. The punchmark J.L seen on the reverse is that of either the designer or the foundry. Germany. 1899. 2" Dia.
