French Gutenberg Commemorative Medal
Silvered bronze, issued in 1900 to commemorate the five hundredth anniversary of the birth in 1400
of the inventor of movable type in the West. The obverse features a bust of the famous printer, and the reverse illustrates the press he used, which is still in existence. The modeller of this handsome medal was Leon Deschamps.

High points very slightly rubbed. France. 1900. 2 15/16" Dia.
