RARE PALA DYNASTY CARVED STONE IMAGE OF PRAJNAPARAMITA
A fragmentary but expressive image of the goddess, Perfection of Wisdom displaying the teaching mudra; flanked by lotus stalks, and with a flying apsara above. The style is characteristic of Bihar or Bengal towards the end of the Pala period. Unmounted.

Rare Annamese (Vietnamese) Stoneware Charger
Made for Southeast Asian export, decorated in underglaze blue with a fanciful horse soaring among the clouds; raised from the Hoi An shipwreck, the glaze degraded as with almost all the recovered cargo, but every bit as fine as the comparable example acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.   Vietnam. c. 1500. 17 1/2" D.

The figure of a kneeling acolyte in adoration, undoubtedly meant as part of a group with a Buddha figure. There is a faint inscription on the base.
